Plant Controller
Tribe 9 Foods is a manufacturer and partnership of value-based brands (RP’s Pasta Co., Carla’s Pasta, Taste Republic, and Yumbutter) with a mission to promote eating and living well. Tribe 9 is positioned to make big inroads in the food manufacturing space and is looking for a Plant Controller to lead our Finance team. The position is in our South Windsor, Connecticut facility.
Position Summary
The Plant Controller serves as a key member of the Finance leadership team, overseeing and optimizing the execution of general accounting, cost accounting and financial reporting. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will also work closely with Plant Operations. The Plant Controller will have the ability to make the complex simple in both words and deeds by streamlining communications and processes. The Plant Controller should have a strategic mindset thinking two steps ahead while having an action-oriented disposition that achieves results.
Beyond the stated skills and qualifications, the successful candidate will be naturally curious and have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities; articulate and convey thoughts and ideas to multiple audiences and exude a strong sense of ownership for operations and results.
Responsibilities
Management
- Responsible for overall integrity and control of the financial data gathering and reporting process
- Partner with leadership, recruit, establish and maintain an organizational structure that supports Tribe 9 Foods objectives and goals
- Act as a technical resource and advisor to the Chief Financial Officer
- Leads, motivates, and directs the staff and external service providers that are responsible for the following functions: Payroll processing, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, Audit and Operational Accounting
- Act as a liaison with 3rd Party IT helpdesk to help users and company wide initiatives
- Responsible for monthly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

Reporting & Technical:
- Issue timely and complete financial statements for all stakeholders including management and investors
- Dig deep on cost accounting, inventory and working capital
- Recommend, calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Participate in annual budget modeling and consolidation
- Manage annual audits and reviews as required
- Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain User & Security permissions in the ERP System
- Develop and maintain KPI Metrics that will help identify and correct issues on the production floor
- Ensure that bank and balance sheet reconciliations are performed regularly
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with major in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years related experience and/or training
- CPA or MBA, preferred
Computer Skills:
- QAD, Quickbooks, or other ERP systems
- Microsoft Tools
- Accounting software
