Sanitation Technician, 1st shift

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, occasional weekend work and overtime
Hours: 7:30am – 3:30pm


Job Summary:

The Sanitation Technician sanitizes all equipment in the plant in compliance with customer specifications and with company policy and procedures related to proper sanitation, GMP and Safety requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Sanitize equipment using chemicals and power washers in Bays and plant area operations.
  • Disassembling production equipment.
  • Inspect equipment to assure sanitation requirements are met.
  • Read chemical labels to ensure safe applications.
  • Manually scrub certain areas of machines using brushes or scrub pads.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the plant, including but not limited to floors, walls, ceilings, overhead pipes and fixtures as well as the equipment used in the preparation/packaging/transfer of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Comply with all company policies, rules & regulations regarding safety, personal hygiene (GMP’s), operational methods and food safety guidelines.
  • Must be willing & able to work in any area of the plant and in/around the Bays to assist in cleaning as needed.
  • Must report any food safety issues, discrepancies, suggestions and/or complaints to your supervisor immediately.
  • Must have the ability to work around & clean a variety of ingredients, including allergens.
  • This position is also called upon to perform other duties not specifically outlined in this posting.

Job Requirements:

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years related work experience in food manufacturing required.
  • Experience and knowledge in food sanitation operations, procedures, chemicals and program standards, preferably in a general food or manufacturing industry.
  • A working knowledge of food technology, food science, microbiology or chemistry required.
  • Understanding of pathogens and other food contaminants is required.
  • Understanding of modes of control of various sanitation chemicals and physical cleaning.
  • Communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual; fluent in another language other than English is a plus.
